How to Find Your DJ: Wedding Edition

October 13, 2020
A woman is dancing on the dance floor at a wedding, enjoying the tunes from a renowned Georgia corporate DJ service.

In this blog, we talk a lot about what makes a great DJ. Over the next few weeks we’ll be taking a look at how and where to FIND the perfect DJ for your event.

When it comes to choosing a DJ for your wedding, there are some very specific qualities that you should consider. Your wedding day will likely be one of the most important and memorable days of your life, so why would you entrust an amateur with the entertainment? A great wedding DJ is experienced, professional, knowledgeable, and flexible, so it’s important that you put ample thought into how you go about finding the right person.

As with any search, the internet is a great place to start. There are entire websites devoted to helping engaged couples find every vendor necessary to make your wedding and reception as beautiful and memorable as possible. Websites like Wedding Wire and The Knot are an amazing place to START. They have an amazing list of talented hosts and DJ’s and even allow for users to rate each vendor after each event. Both sites also give out awards to vendors so that users have an idea of which companies to start with. Jammin’ DJ’s has won a plethora of awards for both and was recently named to The Knot’s Hall of Fame!

Social Media is also an amazing place to look. Any entertainment company worth its salt is going to have a strong social media presence on Facebook and Instagram. Additionally, ask around. If you can remember a wedding at which you thoroughly enjoyed the music and vibe, ask the bride or groom who they hired and where they found them.

Lastly, and most importantly, DO YOUR RESEARCH. How many DJ’s does the company have? Which of their DJ’s has performed at the most weddings? Is their equipment state-of-the art? These are all important questions that you should know the answers to BEFORE you hire anyone. Truthfully, the best advice I can give you is to actually SPEAK with your prospective entertainer and GO TO A PERFORMANCE at another event. Interviewing your candidate is an essential step in any hiring process because it works. Hiring blind is never a good idea, and I promise that you’ll feel much more comfortable with your choice after you get to have a conversation about your wants and needs. The right DJ wants for your wedding and reception to succeed, so if there’s anything that they’re uncomfortable with or incapable of, they’ll let you know, and might be able to recommend the DJ that’s right for you.

Following all of these steps is the most tried and true way of finding the DJ that’s right for you. We’re all rooting for you, so go out there and do it!
