Bar/Bat Mitzvah Games
Bar Mitzvah Games & Bat Mitzvah Party Games
Bar Mitzvah games and Bat Mitzvah party games help keep kids engaged, guests laughing, and the celebration moving. JAMMIN’ DJs offers interactive mitzvah games that can be customized around the guest of honor, the age group, the crowd, and the overall flow of the party.
Some games work best during dinner, while others are perfect for the dance floor. In addition, our Emcee can help explain the rules, organize teams, lead the activity, and keep the energy fun without making the moment feel forced.
Guest of Honor Trivia
Guest of Honor Trivia is a fun way to make the celebration feel personal. Our Emcee asks questions about the guest of honor throughout the event. The first person to raise their hand is called on, and a prize is awarded if the answer is correct.
Since some guests may know the honoree better than others, we usually recommend one prize per person for this contest. Between 8 and 10 questions, along with the correct answers, should be provided by the client. For best results, please send them by email about three weeks before the event date.
Example questions may include: “What was the first sport Adam played?” “What is Abby’s favorite ice cream flavor?” or “What is Levi’s pet’s name?”
Name That Tune Trivia
Name That Tune Trivia is a great Bar Mitzvah game for guests who love music. Participants are asked to form teams of 4 to 6 people. Each team chooses a leader to collect a trivia sheet and pen from the DJ booth.
The DJ plays the first 10 seconds of 10 different songs. After each clip, teams have a short amount of time to secretly discuss the correct song title and artist. Once the game is complete, the answers are announced, and the winning team receives a prize.
Aerial Levitation
Aerial Levitation is a team-building game that works well for groups. Teams of around 10 people each use a long, thin PVC pipe. Team members support the pipe in the air using only their index fingers.
The goal is to be the first team to lower the pipe to the ground. However, the entire pipe must remain parallel to the ground. If it tips too much, judges can require the team to start again from the high position.
Ants in Your Pants
Ants in Your Pants is a high-energy game for guests who are not afraid to move. The Emcee asks for contestants who can shake and dance while staying in one place.
Each contestant receives a pedometer. Then, they must move as much as possible without lifting their feet from the floor. After one minute of upbeat music, the contestant with the highest number wins.
Musical Chairs
Musical Chairs is a classic mitzvah party game that works for children, teens, and adults. The more guests who participate, the better the energy becomes.
Everyone brings out a chair, and the DJ removes one chair before the music starts. Guests walk around the chairs while the music plays. When the music stops, everyone grabs a seat. The person left standing is out and takes a chair back with them. The final person remaining wins.
Balloon Games for Bar & Bat Mitzvahs
Balloon games are popular because they are visual, easy to understand, and fun for a crowd to watch. They also work well when the Emcee needs a quick activity that creates instant energy.
Pumping Until It Pops
For this balloon game, each contestant receives a bellows-style pump and a balloon. Contestants attach the balloon to the pump and inflate it by sitting down on the pump and bouncing up and down.
The first contestant to pop the balloon wins. For adult groups, this game can also be played in teams, with one person pumping and the other holding the balloon on the hose.
Mad Balloon Stomp
Mad Balloon Stomp is a fast-paced dance floor game. A balloon is tied to one leg of each contestant. When the music starts, players try to stomp on other balloons while protecting their own.
Players may not pick up their balloon with their hands. Once a balloon is popped, that player is out. The last person with an intact balloon wins.
Belly Bumper Balloons
Belly Bumper Balloons uses large pool tubes or belly bumpers. Balloons are tied to the handles so they rest near the floor when contestants wear the tubes around their waists.
The goal is to pop other players’ balloons before your own balloons are popped. Once a contestant’s balloons are gone, the referee taps them out. The final contestant with balloons remaining wins.
Stuffing Relay
Stuffing Relay is a funny team game that uses oversized clothing and balloons. Lay oversized clothes at one end of the room and balloons at the other end.
One player runs to a teammate, who helps put the oversized clothing on them. Then, the player runs to the other side and stuffs a balloon into the clothing. The game continues as more items and balloons are added. This game can work for kids, teens, and adults.
Balloon Stuffing
Balloon Stuffing is usually played in teams. One person wears a very large smock while the other team members blow up balloons and stuff them into the smock while music plays.
At the end of the round, the team with the most balloons stuffed into the smock wins. For extra fun, the audience can count as each balloon is popped one at a time.
Balloon Roulette
Balloon Roulette is played in teams of two. Teammates face each other with a balloon held between their chests. Their hands must stay above their heads so they cannot touch the balloon.
Each team rotates in opposite directions until they are facing each other again. If a team drops the balloon or touches it with their hands, they are out. If no balloon is dropped, the slowest team is eliminated. The last team left wins.
Balloon Race Version
The race version uses balloons that must be carried across the room or around a cone. However, the Emcee calls out which body parts must hold the balloon.
For example, teams may need to carry the balloon head-to-head, back-to-back, cheek-to-cheek, hand-to-foot, or toe-to-toe. If the balloon pops, the team can either be eliminated or required to blow up a new balloon, depending on the rules.
Craziest Balloon Hats
Craziest Balloon Hats is a creative game for teams of two. One person is the “maker,” and the other is the “wearer.” Each team receives long balloons that are already inflated.
The maker must twist and combine balloons into a hat that sits on the wearer’s head. The biggest, wildest, or most creative hat wins. However, the hat cannot be supported by anyone’s hand.
Balloons Are Popping
Balloons Are Popping is a fast contest that works well with tables or teams. One person from each table or team sits on a chair on the dance floor.
When the music starts, each contestant grabs a balloon, runs back to their team, returns to the chairs, and pops the balloon by sitting on it. The last person to pop a balloon is out. If needed, a few chairs can be removed each round to speed up the game.
Sports, Team & Group Games
Sports and team games are great options when you want friendly competition. They can also help guests who do not know each other get involved in the celebration.
Basketball
Basketball is a simple contest that can be customized for the space. The guest of honor may go first, and contestants are eliminated as they miss the basket.
To make the game harder, the hoop can be raised as the rounds continue. Sports music or theme songs can play in the background, and a referee with a whistle can help add energy.
Basketball Team Version
For the team version, create teams of three. Each team gets 30 seconds to make as many baskets as possible.
Teams can include a shooter, rebounder, and runner. Players rotate in a circle, and the team with the most baskets wins.
Color Card Team Challenge
This team challenge uses sets of cards labeled A, B, C, and D. Each card includes colors in a different order. The first person from each team receives the first card from their set.
Each player must collect the pieces in the order shown on the card, using only one foot. Then, they go to a referee who verifies the order. After that, the referee gives the next card to the next teammate and scatters the pieces again. This keeps the game fair and active.
Prize Ideas for Mitzvah Games
JAMMIN’ DJs suggests having small prizes ready for the kids. Glow necklaces, glow rings, socks, candy, novelty items, and gift cards can all work well.
For most Bar Mitzvah games and Bat Mitzvah games, we suggest having 8 to 10 prizes available. Gift cards for music, movies, snacks, or popular stores are always a good option. Large candy bars and novelty prizes can also work well.
For additional prize and party favor ideas, you can visit Windy City Novelties or Sherman Party.
